And, lo, the Angel of the Lord Came Upon Them

There are definitely aspects of Christmas that I think are Godly, but there are definitely aspects that are pagan (this is how the devil gets you, mix a little good in with his evil). The good things about Christmas are things you can do anytime . I can give gifts to friends and family (even strangers) at any time. I can make plans to see my family any time. I can fellowship with my fellow believers any time. Just like I can talk about the crucifixion any time, I can talk about His birth any time. None of these activities is restricted to December.

Psalms 31-40, which are all from the Book I section of psalms. Psalm 31 contains a verse that is quoted by Jesus on the cross, while Psalms 34 and 40 contain verses that may be Messianic Prophecies. In this collection, we find a psalm of repentance (Psalm 38), as well as, more psalms of praise.

Job 15-21: Second Responses

Image
Job 15-21 contains the second cycle of dialogue between Job and his friends. Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar take turns speaking, and Job response to each friend's accusation. Remember, their theology is rooted in the belief that evil only befalls on those who have rebelled against God.

The Great King David

David was a legend in Israel; no wonder the Israelites expected his reincarnation in the Messiah.

2 Samuel 5-10: David's Military Success

Image
These chapters mostly discuss the success of David. These successes include capturing of the ever-controversial city, Jerusalem, moving the ark, and upholding his promise to Jonathan. Also discussed is the rift that suddenly emerges between David and his first wife, Michal. Finally, we see a semi-messianic prophecy from the prophet Nathan.

The Trinity Doctrine

Image
Perhaps the most complex doctrine of Christianity, the Trinity is not well defined nor is it universally accepted. How does it line up with the Bible?
