Ecclesiastes 5&6 makes us reevaluate the way we look at religion and wealth. Without meaning to, we often take up secular attitudes and opinions toward these two topics, which can cause us to drift away from God. It's important to put everything in perspective. Remember, Solomon's main theme in Ecclesiastes, is if I died tomorrow, what then?

What came first the law or Moses' hike up Mount Sinai? Many people would have you believe the law only applies to the Israelites and was first instantiated on Mount Sinai. However, there are examples of the law being enforced well before Moses' and the Israelites embarked on the Exodus. Let's look at some of these examples and discus what it means for us today.

This post covers the last third of Moses' second address in Deuteronomy 21-26. In these chapters Moses talks about familial issues (such as marriage and parenting), murder, rape, tithes and fair business practices.

Sacrifices were important but Israel wasn't free to just give sacrifices, they had to fit God's specifications.

God reminds the people of His expectations, but He also gives the people a way to remember His commandments.

In these chapters God discusses the things He considers immoral. Leviticus 17 is another discussion concerning offerings; Leviticus 18 continues discussing things God does not approve focusing on sexuality and what people consider today to be sexual orientation.

As with everything else in the books of law, for everything God commanded the Israelites to do, He had to provide a how-to and consequences for no abiding His instructions. The end of Leviticus 6 clarifies what is necessary for trespass offerings with respect to whether the sinner committed the sin willfully or ignorantly. Leviticus 7 goes on to provide additional information on the types of offerings listed in Leviticus 1-6.

Chapters 1-6 of Leviticus detail the different types of offerings the Israelites can give to God. These offerings include the burnt, peace, meat, sin, and trespass offerings. Each of these serve a different purpose and required a different gift for God. Some where for voluntary praise and thanks, while others were required on specified occasions.
